Many people today are becoming obsessed with thickness. Whether it's your bust, hips or juicy lips, thicker is now the standard.
But how is that perfect lip pout achieved? Well, you can always watch a million and one youtube makeup tutorial videos and copy what they’re doing. But do you understand what they are doing? The truth of the matter is, that if you REALLY want to accomplish the perfect lips by using contours, highlights or makeup illusions in general, then you should really learn about lighting.
What does that have to do with makeup you ask? Simple, if you understand how light can be used to manipulate shadows, you'll have a better understanding of which part of the face you want shaded and which you want highlighted.
That's why you highlight the tops of the cheeks, the bridge of the nose, the top of your forehead and the lower jaw and chin. It is also why you shade in the temples, UNDER the cheeks and along the hairline. You darken certain areas to diminish them, and highlight your best features! The same theory works on your LIPS! No matter the color of lipstick you use, if you highlight your lip-bow and the middle of your bottom lip, you give the illusion of full, luscious lips.
