Today is such a beautiful day! I hear the birds overhead, waterfall in the distance, feel the earth beneath my feet and breath in the crisp cool air. It's 5am in my beautiful Hawaii nei and I am so excited! I'm finally back in Kauai in my favorite rain forest, Fern Grotto located in Wailua River State Park.
This is my happy place. Every time I'm here, I feel free and so much peace! I remember coming here when I was very young with my tutu wahine (grandmother). We were having a family reunion and my grandmother wanted to take my cousin, sister and I to this rainforest. I felt like I had found the place I belonged. She let me sit quietly in the middle of the forest and just soak it in. We ate strawberries right off of the bushes and saw the most breathtaking fern grove. Hawaii, my heaven. These are some of my most precious memories.
I'm here again today, my green haven. It's still fairly dark out, but I can see the hint of the sun's arrival as the sky begins to lighten. I'm going to relive my experience with my tutu today and embrace the world around me. I live in the most beautiful place in the world.
