It’s hard to find the right words to describe Northern Ireland’s Johnny O’Neill. Stating that he’s one of Derry’s DJ’s who is young, edgy, confident and a musical genius on the mixer, doesn’t quite capture how truly talented he really is!
He’s made several appearances on a variety of TV Series and Shows including BBC NI’s Music City, CBBC’s Hit The Stage Shows & has even joined Danny Howard’s Dance Anthems Show on BBC Radio 1. During Radio 1 Big Weekend in Derry, Johnny was given the opportunity to mix for over 6 million listeners live on BBC Radio 1’s Dance Anthems’ Show!
When he isn’t making people want to get up and dance, this talented DJ is looking after his growing family at home. A father to three sons, Johnny was unsure what would happen when the Stay-At-Home order was issued.
“All of my shows got cancelled because of this COVID business and I didn’t know how I’d make ends meet. I honestly thought, ‘well now what am I gonna do?’ But then I started going live on social media and was really surprised when it started doing well. It actually turns out that things are even better than before and I’ve been getting so many views every day on my videos.”
Although he mixes incredible beats that he thinks others would like and that he is proud of, he has also started a few collaborative projects.
“I began receiving messages from other artists asking if I could mix some beats for them or to remix some of their music. It’s helped a lot, but it has also allowed me to really work with other artists as well.”
