Vanessa Williams

Music and Theater have always been an integral part of Vanessa Williams’ life. With a passion for theater, Vanessa has studied classical and jazz dance since childhood, and excelled at instruments like the French horn, piano and violin.

In 1988, Vanessa released her highly anticipated debut album The Right Stuff, which quickly achieved gold status selling in excess of 500,000 copies and scored hits on various charts including the beautiful ballad "Dreamin’ "- which was her very first Top Ten single on the Billboard Hot 100. If that weren’t enough, the album also earned her three Grammy nominations.

Since then, Vanessa has released 8 more albums, achieving significant success in her music career. In fact, her second album, The Comfort Zone, went triple platinum and garnered five Grammy nominations. It also included her signature song, "Save The Best For Last,” which spent five weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified gold.

Vanessa is truly a multifaceted artist and we absolutely love her voice. But did you also know that she is actively involved in the creation of her songs as well? Take her album The Real Thing for example, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Charts in 2009 and featured songs written by artists like Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, Bebel Gilberto, Phil Galdston and Babyface. But the songs themselves were about real events that she’s lived through.

“I am very active in the song writing process. I give the writers the topic I want to sing about and the vision, ideas and thoughts I have for it, and we work on a song that really means something to me.”

Although her last album was released over ten years ago, Vanessa is always working towards her dreams, goals and aspirations. She revealed that she has several projects in the works that have been temporarily put on hold due to the Coronavirus pandemic, but looks forward to a time when she can get back to work! We are so excited to see what this incredible woman comes up with next!
